"Every morning I wake up and think: I get another day to do good."
James Stephens is not your average blockchain founder. Before launching Krown Technologies, he was a three-time advanced-stage cancer survivor who had once aspired to be a thoracic surgeon. Instead, life rerouted him toward a passion he'd had since childhood: technology. On a recent episode of the Swimming With Sharks podcast with Kevin J Dean, James shared his remarkable journey—from personal resilience to pioneering one of the most ambitious blockchain ecosystems in development today.
This interview dives into leadership, ethics, quantum-secure innovation, and why Krown aims to be more than a crypto project. It's a mission to rebuild trust across the digital financial world.
"I wanted to be a thoracic surgeon," James recalls. "But God had other plans."
After surviving cancer three times, James returned to his first love: tech. He dove into front-end development, backend systems, and eventually, cryptocurrency. Over more than a decade, he worked behind the scenes on numerous projects before deciding it was time to build something of his own.
"When you've seen the dark side of an industry, you either walk away—or you try to fix it."
Lying in bed one night, James turned to his wife and declared, "I know what I want to do now." That was the moment Krown was born. Its name—a nod to both faith and sovereignty—was intentionally spelled with a "K" to make it distinct.

Krown is designed to be the largest and most secure blockchain ecosystem ever built. At its core is the Krown Chain, a quantum-secure, high-speed blockchain. But it doesn't stop there.
"Imagine the blockchain as a body. The chain is the body, but the ecosystem—Camelot—is the organs."
Camelot includes 32+ interconnected products, each with its own revenue stream. What makes it revolutionary is the tokenomics: each product automatically allocates a share of its revenue to buy and burn the native Krown coin. This model builds constant value for holders, regardless of market conditions.
**"Every single piece of Camelot works to raise the floor of the Krown coin." **
From DeFi platforms to secure communication tools to institutional custody systems, Camelot is an all-in-one ecosystem designed to let users stay safely inside a trusted, encrypted environment.
James is vocal about the existential threat posed by quantum computing.
"We're approaching a day where financial networks will be hacked by quantum computers. We call that Q-Day."
Unlike traditional blockchain systems still relying on RSA or ECC encryption, Krown Chain uses six layers of post-quantum cryptography (PQC). Protocols like Dilithium and Kyber are combined to defend against multiple attack vectors.
"Other projects talk about security. Krown was built for security."
The crown jewel? Castle, Krown's upcoming crypto wallet, which will be fully quantum encrypted and "nearly unhackable." Slated for release within 60 to 90 days, Castle is expected to outperform every major wallet on the market today.
Krown isn't just a blockchain. It's an AI-native blockchain.
"AI knows where it sits in the ecosystem. It calibrates itself based on its product role."
For example, KrownIQ—the trading platform—uses embedded AI that adapts to market conditions, user behavior, and predictive signals. AI also supports Krown engineers behind the scenes by diagnosing tech support issues faster than humanly possible.
"AI lets us take better care of our community. It helps our engineers help people."
Rather than hype, Krown treats AI as infrastructure—a quiet but powerful layer that supports everything from customer service to real-time threat analysis.
Balancing cutting-edge innovation with responsible governance is no small feat. James is clear-eyed about the risks.
"AI doesn't belong in custody or governance. We use it to help—not to control."
While some blockchain projects blur ethical lines in pursuit of speed or hype, Krown prioritizes legal and moral frameworks. It was built to be "compliant by design," and the team is actively involved in shaping emerging legislation through industry councils.
"Laws are often made by people who don’t understand the tech. That has to change."
Krown advocates for roundtable-style governance models and encourages governments to include diverse voices when drafting blockchain regulation.
James believes the crypto sector has a trust problem.
"Transparency is our first pillar. People are tired of being lied to."
He’s candid about his own journey—more failures than successes, he says—but it’s those failures that taught him the importance of consistency.
"We show our work. We say what we’re going to do, and then we do it."
Krown also emphasizes ethical leadership. One of the ecosystem's flagship arms, Krown Charities, is dedicated to global philanthropy. Beginning in 2026, the annual Kings Roundtable will convene top investors to vote on causes to support—from homelessness and cancer research to orphanage programs.

James' background as a cancer survivor infuses everything he builds.
"When I had cancer, I got down to 89 pounds. Now I'm 6'2", 225. Every day is a gift."
He credits his brush with mortality for giving him the urgency and humility to build something meaningful. His leadership philosophy is deeply people-centered.
"Communicate. I don't care if it's the janitor or the CTO. The best ideas come from unexpected places."
One of the most sobering moments in the interview comes when James calls out a common assumption:
"The biggest myth in crypto? People think their wallets are safe. They’re not."
From man-in-the-middle attacks to stolen seed phrases, everyday users are exposed to serious risks. That’s why Castle is so critical to Krown’s mission. It's not just another product—it's a paradigm shift in wallet security.
Krown aims to be the last chain you'll ever need. Whether you're trading, playing, funding, or building, you can do it inside the Krown ecosystem without ever compromising on speed or safety.
"Ethereum gas fees used to be ridiculous. We fixed that."
This all-in-one philosophy allows users to engage with fintech, gaming, custody, and commerce—without jumping through chains or wallets. And for developers, it offers a secure, scalable framework that evolves alongside the technology.
James closes the conversation with timeless leadership wisdom.
"The greatest leaders listen. They don’t talk. They just listen."
He encourages executives to keep communication lines open, stay humble, and remain adaptable.
"The rate of change is insane. We have meetings daily to adjust. We move fast because the world moves fast."

James Stephens doesn’t just want to innovate. He wants to elevate the entire blockchain sector.
From quantum encryption to ethical leadership, from AI-powered platforms to mission-driven philanthropy, Krown Technologies is crafting a new blueprint for what decentralized finance can and should be.
"Secure innovation is not a luxury. It's the new standard."
Whether you're an investor, a developer, or a policymaker, one thing is clear: the future of blockchain isn't just fast or flashy. With Krown, it's safe, smart, and built to last.
